Every portrait brings a little help to an elder in rural China
Each year we give 2% of our sales — that is 2% of every order you place — to help elderly villagers in rural China who have spent their whole lives working the land.
Our commitment
Simple, and the same for every order
It is not worked out from profit, and it does not depend on a good month. 2% of what you pay for your portrait goes into our giving fund — at no extra cost to you.
For a $199 portrait, that is about $3.98 set aside to help an elderly villager.
Why rural elders
A lifetime of farming, and very little to fall back on
In China’s countryside, many elderly farmers worked the land their whole lives without a real pension. What support they have is often only a small basic allowance — rarely enough to live on — and medical care is not free.
When they fall ill, a doctor’s visit or a course of medicine can cost more than they can afford, and many live alone while their children work in faraway cities. A little help with daily needs and medical bills goes a long way.
